Program Overview
90-minute sessions delivered across 13-15 consecutive weeks
Teens and young adults are taught relevant social skills
Practice of the explicitly taught skills with peers during each group session
Social coaches attend a separate concurrent session and taught how to assist their teen or young adult in making and keeping friends
Weekly homework activities that support the lessons taught each week, which promotes generalization of the skills learned.
Who should participate?
Any teen or young adult who is motivated to learn skills that will help them make and keep friends. Individuals must be interested in attending the PEERS® program and agree to participate voluntarily. Participants are required to have a social coach who will attend weekly sessions.
PEERS® may be appropriate for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, or other social and behavioral disorders.
